In this course students read many of the great works of literature from the Anglo-Saxon period through the eighteenth century. They gain an understanding of the development of English literature as they study Shakespeare's Othello, and selections from Beowulf, The Canterbury Tales, and Paradise Lost. Students work on improving their writing skills by preparing papers and presentations that analyze the literary works.
